The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, patient and personal photographs, news clippings, medical reunions and other memorabilia, publications, and biographical data pertaining to the personal and professional life of Adalbert G. Bettman. Adalbert G. Bettman was a noted plastic surgeon and was well-reagrded for his treatment of burns; he developed the tannic acid silver-nitrate burn therapy. Born in Portland, Oregon 1883, Bettman attended the University of Oregon Medical School and graduated in 1907, after which he worked on staff at many Portland hospitals, including Good Samaritan, Saint Vincent’s, Multnomah County Hospital, Physicians and Surgeons, and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
